ASTRA 1.6 16v sxi BRAKES?

My Astra makes a funny noise when i do emergency or hard brake. The noise normally comes from the front but only sometimes. Can someone let me know if what the problem could be?

Could be brake pads worn out,so its metal on metal when you brake very very dangerous if thats what it is.
