my dryer does not heat up and my clothes do not dry, however all the other wash programmes work fine.A friend told me it has a filter somewhere that might need cleaning

Yor washer / Dryer has a heater or thermostat problem (or a wire to them is broken)Only a engineer should open it up to test it, what ever you do do not call out Hotpoint at the last count they charge £89.00 just to knock on your front door. advise look for small local guy.
