LCD Display stille shows but very dim???

The lcd where it displays time temp and radio station etc is still working but has gone really dim, and at night when lights are on it is not really visible at all.

Any ideas on what is wrong???

Look in the car owners handbook, position of dimmer switch is in there.
On my renault the adjuster is low on the dash, near the left knee.

Oh sorry what is the rheostat?? and where can I find it - it does sound like thats happened

Also how to I get to the panel illumination bulb??

check nobody has turned the rheostat down if not change the panel illumination bulb
