Ford Ka 2 battery warning light came on and power steering has failed, ?

Hi My Sons ford ka 2 has just had a battery warning light come on with a subsequent power steering failure, after checking connections, fuses etc still stays on he also said that the water levels had dropped drastically( although he checks his fluids regularly)No signs of leakage on driveway
