got on, started it up, no lights... cleaned switch, no lights front or rear. checked bulbs, there ok. i do have break lights though.

I have the same problem and have just traced it to the switch being faulty. If you undo the three screws the back half of the dash board will come off, if you disconnect the switch and put a wire / paper clip across the two terminals the lights should come on.
I now need to find somewhere that sells the replacment switches so let me know if you problem is the same and you find a switch.
