My engine light keeps flashing on the dashboard and it takes an age to start the car. what could be the problem

if the engine light uluminates its picked some fault up from one of the many many sensors you can try disconecting the battery for ten mins this can sometimes reset the ecu if it sill comes on then you will have to take it to a garage to be pluged in to find fault code.(BEFORE DICONECTING BATTERY MAKE SURE YOU HAVE THE STEREO CODE AT HAND AS THIS MAY ASK FOR CODE ON RECONETION OF BATTERY IF ITS THE STANDARD STEREO)hope this helps
