chipboard damaged - hinge area - unit door?

My cupboard door has fallen off because the hinge has been ripped off due to usuage. The holes in the chipboard are to big for the screws to be fixed. How can i fix this so that the screws fit tightly? With wood glue and saw dust? Please help.

I successfully used the Rawlplug "Rawl metal self drive fixing for plasterboard" with panhead screw "suitable for fixture up to 13mm". At 27mm it is longer than the thickness of a standard chipboard cupboard side panel so is only use if there is another cupboard or a void beside the broken hinge. (If there is an adjacent cupboard and its hinge is is the same place as the broken one you will have to use a hinge repair plate (available on e-Bay) instead as this repair fixing will interfere with the hinge screws of the next door cupboard.)

The fixing is intended for screwing into plasterboard, but it worked well enough with the broken chipboard hole. You will need to drill the bottom of the hole with a 3-4mm dia drill to the length of the fixing as it will not penetrate into undamaged chipboard without a pilot hole. The fixing is a pointed at the tip and with a very coarse spiral thread. Screw it in tightly then reattach the hinge. You have to use the screw provided because the metal fixing is tapped specifically for it. The completed job feels solid as new.

I read on another site that car body repair works.

I have the same problem as my daughter just stumbled & grabbed the kitchen door & ripped the top hinge clean off!! (not amused)
I thought of turning the door upside down, but on a floor unit the handle would end up at the bottom!!??

IF THERES A CUPBOARD NEXT TO THE DAMAGED ONE, DRIVE A LONGER SCREW RIGHT THROUGH INTO THE NEXT GABLE.

Glue & sawdust will not be strong enough - either put in a couple of small bits of matchstick-like wood or drill out the screw hole and glue in a dowel - when set, saw off any protruding dowel and make a small pilot hole to take the screw.
