hi, my clio would start some times .start car (if lucky) drive about town park up. try starting wont start.i found out it was the crankshaft sensor (or top dead centre sensor) had it replaced starts every time,performance improved as well. cost me £62 by local auto/elec but you can buy it for £25 and fit it yourself. hope this helps some good luck

Hi bob, i am having exactly the same problem with my clio, starts when it wants, i have now discovered its the crank shaft sensor at a cost of £75.00 for diagnostics test, but mechanic fixing it for nothing. Really hope it solves the problem the same as yours!
