sorry one other thing the bike will run without a battery on iy even so the person who sais it was the problem with it cutting out when u were taking it home was talking out of his a***hole the ignition runs of the stator coils which produce power when the engine is cranked from the kickstart(obviously the elecrtic start wouldnt work witha flat battery but either way it would not cut out from a bad or flat battery while you were riding it,ok adam

The plug gap will be fine on a new plug,no need to gap it they are all pre gapped and plenty near enough to any spec that the manufacurer will tell you, also the temperature sender will not make it cut out at all !all that will do if faulty is give an incorrect reading or none at all unlike a fuel injected car for instance (but yours has a carburettor instead),the tickover speed could maybe do with turning up,the screw for it is on the side of the carb in line with the throttle slide the other screw is the mixture screw dont touch that one,if it has trouble starting after you have turned up the tickover speed it may well be the bystarter or (auto choke )call it what you will in trouble maybe a bad connection or faulty unit feel it to see if it gets warm after the bike has been run for a while usually it will if its working ok ,its on top of the carb and black in colour made from plastic with 2 wires going to it.ok hope that helps ps its nothing to do with the temp sender as someone else has suggested.adam

Sounds like a temp sensor to me.
