Rover 420 brake light problem?

The offside (UK) brake light on my car does not work. Have checked out light itself & all seems fine, put in new bulb too & its not that.
Has to be wiring fault, but does anyone know where to look??
Since this has stopped working I have noticed this in other rovers too, same light. Even one or two Hondas.
Any help much appreciated

It could be a grounding fault, or it could be that there is no 12Vdc supply. Do the other lights work in the light cluster? If not, then I would suspect a ground fault (corrosion). If yes, then it is more then likely a 12Vdc supply issue.
