Mountfield Empress 16 sp - oil change?

Does anyone have a manual please, that explains the best way to do an oil change on a Mountfield Empress 16 sp lawnmower i.e is there an oil drain plug?

Thanks,

Can anybody tell me where I can obtain a engine manual for a mountfield empress 16 with a TECUMSEH bvs143 Four stroke engine

Thanks

Yes - the drain plug is on the underside (obviously!) of the engine, - accessible via the cutting deck, just above the blades. You will need a 10mm square section bar to undo it.
Hope this helps.

Hi There, I have a Mountfield empress 16 that I bought second hand..... It has a briggs and Stratton Engine, If you have the same engine, take a look at BRIGGSandSTRATTON.com and you can print off an operators manual, which covers everything from servicing to repairs. Hope that helps.

There is no service manual as such.

There are 2 ways to do an oil change ;-

1) Raise the mower so you can access the underside. DISCONNECT THE SPARK PLUG WIRE. Locate the drain plug - depending on the engine type, it will be a 3/8" socket head plug (a 3/8" drive socket extenson will fit), OR it will be a 3/8" MALE plug requiring a 3/8" open ended spanner to remove. It's quite obvious when you clean off all the crud on the bottom.

2) Remove the oil filler and physically tip the mower to empty it. Easier, but messier.

Refil with SAE30 oil.
