you need to remove the top "stop" the thingy that prevents the pull from coming out of the top. using a replacement pull. most of the time easy to find at a fabric store such as jo ann's so long as you dont have an odd size pull. the size should be on the zipper pull itself. if not buy the kit that has multiple ones and experiment. the extra pulls and stop surely can come in handy again someday.
