Get in touch with a registered gas installer as soon as possible!! This could be a potentially dangerous problem best left to a trained engineer. If possible, refrain from using the cooker until the problem has been resolved.
A properly installed and safely operating gas appliance should and will not give of any fumes at all. Make sure you have adequate ventilation to the room where the cooker is fitted!
