I am about to renew the belt on my 2303. I was lucky in respect that my belt had split but was still on the bottom pulley. It went down through the middle of the tensioner assembly and straight on to the drive pully. I am guessing that the tensioner gets thrown one way or the other, dependant on motor direction to tension the belt during use.
Will post more information when I carry out the job.
