Gas 'popping' when turning off?

After use when I turn off a gas ring there is a 'pop' before extinguising.

Residual gas in the mixer tube leading to the burner will ignite with a pop if the burner ports are choked or restricted. Make sure the small holes in the burner ring are kept clean but don`t under any circumstances try to poke anything into them as this could damage the burner and render it unsafe to use.
