laguna 2.2dci injection warning?

occassionally on my laguna i'll be driving along when on the dashboard the "fuel injection fault" comes up and you cannot go above 40 mph, but if you stop and turn off the engine and take out the keycard and reinsert and restart the warning goes out (not always straight away though may need 1 or 2 attempts)

anyone that can help will be saving my sanity, as been to renault and they've had it on their diagnostics and nothing shows.

many thanks in advance

You may well need to replace the top (cam shaft cover) which is also the inlet manifold. Very common fault with this engine. Cost about £350 + 6 hours labour or so. Can also damage the turbo another £600 approx.

with ignition off check all your connections, take off top engine cover by removing three nuts and look at the common rail injection and injectors , Give a good vacuum off but be careful not to disturb or break anything, fuel pipes become brittle with age so go easy. Check all the connector blocks wires are ok, you could unplug the blocks and clean both them and the contacts with switch cleaner or surgical spirit or meths and dry carefully with a hair dryer set on low or no heat at all.
When you have it all back together , do the computer re set , ie hold in right hand steering wheel end of lever button and keep holding as you insert key card , the dials will turn on their own as the computer runs through everything and sets its self up , take about 2 mins

Good Luck

Try cleaning EGR Valve. It worked for me.
