Ceramic hob installation?

Hi, I'm in the process of installing a new kitchen in my house and I wanted to know if it is illegal to install a new ceramic hob (replacing an existing one) myself? The wiring from the old one has been taken out but, the hard wiring from the mains ring is still in place.

hi,\r\ni just recently bought a necht electric hob & got a sparky round to install but the main wiring up to the hob just reads 4 & 5 instead of Live or earth.
Ive read the manuel but there's nothing that tells you.
How do i know where to put the brown or blue wire?

Thanks John. I've been told that I need to get an electrician in to do any work, if not..... It puts my house insurance in jeopardy if it's not done by a registered electrician.

Its usual to have its own dedicated circuit and breaker, but who's to know? You can replace like for like yourself.
