I've now got two faults on the machine-

The first one was that the cloths came out of the machine dripping wet - so we had to spin the cloths again.

It has been like that for a while now.

No. 2 - We can now open the door of the machine when it is full of water. We have had to mop up a few times now.

Don't know if fault 2 existed before 1, though I suspect not.

I'd say the machine thinks it's empty because it has completed the draining sequence. HOWEVER, you will probably need tom open and drain the sump at the bottom of the machine (take the skirt off) as it is most likely blocked with fluff.
