Glow-worm swiftflow 80 not heating water?

My Glow-worm 80 will only heat water if the central heating is switched on, is this a comon problem and if so is there a simple fix?

you may have a diverter valve fault,or heat exchanger needs cleaning expensive repair !
With an old swift flow combi . your best bet is to replace it with a new more efficent boiler
