Whats wrong with my tefal steam generator?

Rinsed out the bottom tank and a rawplug type thingy fell out. Now it does not keep steam and blows steam out of the bottom after a while. Can I mend this?

my one also packed in yesterday, no steam coming out just gets hot, 2nd one to do this, not sure if this is a common problem??!!
