astra rear brakes?

i am changing the rear pads on my astra coupe and cant push in the piston. It wont move. Any ideas ?

my 2002 1.6 astra failed its mot because its rear drum brakes comes on prematurely when the brake peddle is pushed compared to front ones. Does any one know why this is ? Has it something to do with the rear weight valve on the axle?
