how can i fix my hotpoint condenser dryer CTD40?

The empty water light is flashing and then the dryer stops after about a minute. It is a hotpoint condenser dryer CTD40 .There is definately no water in the bottle to empty.

It sounds like the small pump (in the grey plastic box at the bottom of the rear - where the black & transparent hoses run to/from) has failed.

My one did this last week, I've not had a chance to order a replacement yet, but it's simple to fit a new one, just remove the plastic cover (carefully with a wide flat bladed screwdriver); disconnect the 2 cables (one for the float switch - one for the pump) and then pop out the motor assembly, the motor itself can be unscrewed with a philips screwdriver - just take out the three screws. I tested my pump's electricaly - and found it to be an open circuit - so no power was going to pass through the electro-magnets and make the rotor spin.

Incidentally, if you are desperate to get some drying done, you can leave the connectors unplugged (perhaps best to wrap them tightly with insulation tape) and with the motor assembly removed, empty the resevoir manually with a small plastic lid (I used a spray-deodorant cap).

Hope this helps...
