how to thread up a Jones 673N sewing machine?

I have a problem ; i thread the cotton through the top of the machine o.k. but am not sure if i am inserting the bobbin in it's holder correctly(below the machine).

I cannot get the needle to take up the thread from the bobbin.

Plese can you help(idon't have a manual)

Hello Steve,
Make sure the needle is in the correct way round that is the most common fault, if the bobbin goes in the front it is flat side of the needle facing back, if the bobbin goes in the side it will be flat side facing right, if that does not work you may need to retime the machine.
