Dean......

my question is for you... the same thing happenen with my ceramic balast resistor.. did you just replace it and it work and if so where did you get it..

Opps, My mistake, its not Full-Wave , its Half-Wave,meaning they may have just not felt like spending .04 cents for an extra diode to make it Full-wave.

I Suggest u throw that Converter in the trash or have some one install the Capacitors needed to make it a normal 12 v supply. The output is just a full-wave rectified ripple with no Capacitors to flatten the ripple like in ANY normal DC supply. Its a POS.

I found that my power converter had the same problem. When I took it apart i found that the ceramic balast resistor had overheated and had to be replaced.

I can assume that you have checked the fuse line to and from the converter in relation to the charger. If they are OK then is more than likely to be the Charger side of the converter. You can replace the entire unit like for like or the internal charger within the unit can sometimes be replaced. You can also fit a stand alone charger plugged into a 240v socket, but will only charge whilst connected to mains
