how can i fix my rover 45?

My Rover 45 has just started reving its own engine. When stationery the revs keep going up and down between about 1500 and 2000 also when i change gear or brake the revs go up a bit before coming back down. The car is also running hotter than usual.

could be sticking throttle body.

If its running hotter than normal then I suggest you get that checked out quickly else the head gasket will fail/leak due to the heat
