rover 45 over heating?

my 2003 rover 45 is running far hotter than normal the fan comes on within about half a miles journey also the heater is not working and it seems to be reving itself when stationery revs go up between 1500 and 2000

i have rover 45 automatic 03 1.8 it was overheating all the time temprature gauge at top hoses from radiator boiling hot water coming from engine had head gasket done few days ago cost £500 runs like a new car now

The head gasket may be gone the only way to tell is remove the dip stick after the engine has been running now look at the condition of the oil if you see droplets of water or a yellowy colour oil then you will need a new head gasket and check the water aswell for oil deposits.
