Another thanks to Mr. Price. An invaluable post.
Like the previous posters, we had water gushing from the door/drawer. Considered new machine but found this thread. Located filter as described, and also found a cornucopia of gunk. Plus, we are in a hard water area, which had added to the blockage. Can I also add an extra tip, have a tray or lots of towels ready when you disconnect the gaiter. The amount of backed up water was considerable.
But the children can now have shoes this year.
Thanks again.

excellent advice, very helpful - my husband located and cleaned the very clogged filter, tinfoil, safety pins very compressed fibres etc - so no need to consider buying a new machine or worrying about the gamble you take with engineers - THANK YOU & A Happy NEW YEAR!

Excellent!! our machine has been leaking over the last few months and getting progessively worse to the point where it was leaking out of the drawer and all around the door and saturating the floor around it..but only during the second half of the wash cycle.. we were all set to get a new machine until reading this and after unclogging the filter which was completely blocked up with hair elastics, paper, coins etc etc we have now got a good as new machine no leaking at all. Thanks so much!!

Thank you to Keith Price above. Water was coming from door and dispenser drawer. Followed your steps above and found coins sweet papers washers hair scrunchies and the inside of a bra! Gave the cone and black rubber hose a good clean and put it back. Many thanks again you saved me a fortune.

Following reading about a bloked internal filter, located the filter removed the blokage and the machines a good un!
The filter is located behind the silver plate at the back of the machine at the bottom. Four screws hold it on. The filter is inside the big black rubber gater attached between the pump and the main drum. Remove the plastic clip holding it to the pump unit and then the metal circlip holding it to the main drum. In side is a white moulded cone and a big white ball which floats in side. This was full of plastic, lint and part of a Bra. To refit put white cone back in side gator onto the oblong locator at the bottom, fit ball back into the cone. Attach to the bottom to the drum and re fasten the circlip. Finally reconnect the gator to the pump unit and tighten the plastic clip.

I had the same problem with my Hotpoint wma34. I had to call a service man out as my husband had tried replacing the pump and this did not work! It turned out to be a blocked internal filter. He cleared the filter (sweet wrappers ect) and the problem was resolved immediately!

I do not know where the internal filter is exactly, but he removed the back. I think it was under the drum?
