Footwell in my Mondeo Mk2 has water collecting in it? Help please?

The rain water is collecting in the front passenger footwell of my 1999 Mondeo Zetec. I can see no problems with seals, sunroof etc. I have read this could come about when they service the pollen filter and it may need to be rehoused/greased. I am dumb for asking this I know, but where do I look and how do I do this? I bought this car from Ford 3 weeks ago (warranty doesn't cover it!) so I'm finding my way around my new 'friend'. Also, could the water be coming from anywhere else, please?

My mondeo mk2 was doing this easily solved.
remove passenger wiper arm. then remove 2 screws holding the black plastic trim between window screen and bonnet. remove trim.
now you should see the pollen filter housing.open it by the 2 clips one each end and take filter out.
now undo the 2 bolts to remove the back of the filter housing.
you will notice the seal is probaly gone.
clean the area around where the housing meets the car and clean the housing.
put a good layer of silicone sealant on both the car around the lip you will see and on the back housing unit. carefully place housing back in place and tighten both nuts up tight.put extra sealant on as reqiured and smooth out with finger to make a good seal.allow to seal and reassemble everything. good idea to replace pollen filter now.

If it's had a new windscreen this could also be the problem due to poor bonding around the screen.

its from the pollen filter, take the panel off between windscreen and bonnet, remove filter and put some sealant around the edge and re-seal.this should solve your water problem.

The footwell in my Mondeo gets wet because the water puddles on the car trim under the door and then overflows into the footwell.
If the car is up slightly at the front, it overflows at the back of the door opening, and vice-versa.
All the door rubbers appear sound, the car is only 3 1/2 years old.
A hole at each end of the outer rubber seal to stop the water from puddling in the groove will cure the problem.

I had the same problem with a 1999 mondeo. The water is coming in because the seal on the pollen filter is worn.More info is available at http://www.mirez.co.uk/WaterProbs.htm
