my reverse lights stay on?

Hi my reverse lights are staying on , on my citreon picasso x reg car . how do i fix this.

probably need to change reverse light switch on top of gearbox. to test, unclip wire from switch, (could be hidden by air filter housing), put piece of wire in connector to connect both wires together, and see if lights work and go off when wire removed.
