I don't have docs specifically for the XE-A301 but you can try the following procedure. It is the master reset procedure for other XE-series machines and will probably work for the A301.

1) Unplug the register.
2) Turn the key to the PGM position
3) While holding the JOURNAL FEED and 9 keys down, plug the machine back in.
