where is slave cylinder?

my slave cylinder needs replacing on my 2001 1.7 ford puma,i have some knowledge of cars so wanted 2 do this myself but i am unsure were it is...is it in the gear box or outside it?if its in the gearbox i will have a profesional do it but if its not il do it my self....any help pleaee....

thanx alot m8,any idea how much the cluth assembly is gonna set me back?am looking to get rid of the car so need it all sorting but dnt wanna spend loads on it,having a baby so need a bigger car..lol

Hi Ryan,

It's inside the bellhousing, it is a DIY job but you will have to remove the gearbox to do it and while it's off it would be a good time to replace the whole clutch assembly as the slave cylinder is also the release bearing in one unit
