how to adjust tappets on a 2003 petrol peugeot 307 estate?

my tappets are making too much noise for my liking i would like to know how to fix them myself

its 2003 and has done 85500 miles and not sure on the grade of oil

They are hydraulic lifter and cannot be adjusted. You can try an engine oil flush as the small holes in the tappets could be choked a bit, but before doing anything like that - how old is your engine oil and what grade? It should be 10W40 oil in your engine.
