hotpoint wt960 overfilling?

my machine is taking in too much water and only takes in the water from the softener side of the drawer, therefore not taking in the powder. it wont drain properly and still fills with water when i cancel the cycle. also it still continues to intake water even when i switch off the machine from the control panel. is it repairable or is a new machine required? thanks

take the rear panel off at the bottom ( 2/4 screws ) on the rear of the machine you should see a hose in the centre feeding the pump, loosen the j - clip and remove ( remember the machine will be full of water ) there is a filter inside and a float ball, clean out and rebuild, job done
please note if when taking the back panel off, check the module on the left handside & if it has a big heat sink, let the machine discharge for 5 minutes b4 working on.
