starter motor?

My car wont start, we have tried jump leads and there is definitley power but all I get is a loud clicking noise is it the starter motor. The car is a KA

Put car in gear and move it where it stands about half an inch (use your bottom) - the "dog" on the starter motor may be failing to mesh with the flywheel - may sound daft but it sometimes works, takes just 2 minutes and costs nothing. Moving the car just a bit allows the teeth to mesh properly.

Failing that you may have a defective starter motor or perhaps a broken starter solenoid switch although the "click" you hear may the the starter solenoid operating.

To find the starter if you need to, just follow the big fat cable from the battery - it goes directly to the starter solenoid.
