peugeot 106, rev counter fuel gauge and speedo u/s?

sorry if this question has been asked before. My sons peugeot 106 Independence.(X reg. 2000) has developed a fault. The speedo, rev counter(strangely stuck on 1,000 rpm) and fuel gauge no longer work. One day all was fine, next they failed. If anyone has any ideas I would be grateful.

had the same problem, had noticed for a while the car was a bit sluggish on the starter, and feared i needed a new battery- but measuring it on a meter it was reading 12.72v which is good. so cleaned the battery terminals and inside of clamps with wire wool, covered them with vaseline.clamped them back togeather=
eureka!!all good
thanks for the help- the internet can be brilliant...

My son's car developed exactly the same problem after i recharged the battery. I followed the above advice and just fiddled with the positive terminal of the battery and now it's working again. I don't know what i did but it sorted the problem.

I had the same problem, discovered that the +positive terminal clip on the battery was flipped up (due to me kindly jump starting peoples cars) so I simply disconected it entirely for 4-5 mins and this reset things and the speedo and rev counter started working again.
thought it was gonna be an expensive problem but thankfully it wasn't.
