I have a Veritas R8 alarm and after a power cut I cannot reset the system. I think the battery needs to be replaced but I have disconnected and reconnected the battery but still cannot set the alarm.

This is normally because the battery is faulty, when was it last serviced and checked , try booting panel without battery , mains only, but dont electricuted yourself , if it boots then get a new battery , or call a professional SSAIB installer.
Sometimes the panels lock down and will need a engineers code to reset
