Now im technically minded so forgive my input here. I had this problem when out delivering a few months ago(LDV Cub 2001), basically i went to drive off from a customers house but the ignition just clicked, i tried again but the same thing happened. i called the RAC and the guy showed me where the problem was, and basically if it happened again i just had to fiddle with a connnector by lifting the driver seat, and locating the the wire/connection. it has happened to me around 7/8 times since and i have resolved it every time by simply touching, wiggling or playing with the wire that i assume connects to the starter motor.

its not the ideal solution i know, but when i thought about changing the starter motor i 'googled' it to find that it did not resolve the problem, so my question now is....what is the connector called that i am messing about with? as that is where the problem lies.

hi, i have the same problems with my nissan vanette which is basically the same van, did you manage to sort the problem? and where is the earth strap located? many thanks

CHECK THE EARTH STRAP FROM THE ENGINE TO BODY AS THIS IS A COMMON FAULT ON THIS MODEL.

MARK (EX-LEYLAND DAF/LDV MECHANIC), October 2009
check connections from ign switch to loom [just behind drivers side lower dash cover] they become hot and make poor connections with a lot of use!
