Showers?

i have a shower that is powered from the mains, however when i go to turn the shower on no water comes from the shower head!! is this a problem with my system, the shower itself or even the taps??

Electric shower?
Check that there is mains electricity to the shower. There should be an isolator switch, usually pull cord, located near to.The neon light should be on. Often same on shower casing.
no water in cold setting? check for an service valve in the water pipe to the shower. Looks like a long joint 2 inches with a nut at each end. in the middle there is a screw driver slot. this should be turned so that the slot is in line with the pipe

Depending on old the shower is, if it is an old shower it could be that the pump is shot, it could be that the shower head is made up try a new head, some times there is small filter in the ends of the shower hose.
