drum not spinning correctly?

the belt has broken i have removed the back to find the drum seems to be catching on something it still rotates about three turns both ways then seems to catch something and stop how do i get into the drum to see what the problem is

Sounds very much like you have an unwelcome article of clothing stuck between the drum & the tub. It happens from time to time. If you are lucky you may be able to spot it by gently pulling the door bellow slightly away from the rim of the drum. If you see anything try to grab it with a pair of pointed nosed pliers. Moving the drum slightly backwards & forwards while pulling on it might get it out. If you can't get it out this way I am afraid you may have to A: take out the heater element to fish it out, B: take off the sump hose to get at it. Good luck
