Zanussi FJ1094. Mains light on, door locks, nothing else happening?

Hi there....this machine appears stone dead apart from the mains light coming on and door automatic lock. Moving the dial full circle produces no results - no pumps working, no motor working, no water valves powered. I suspected the door lock, which has three wires, so I joined together the two thicker ones, assuming them to be carrying the mains supply. No difference. The orange 'door locked' light does not work, however I have not yet checked that the bulb may be blown as I don't recall seeing this light on when using the machine.

Hi there again Fred...and I'm pleased to advise that I have obtained a simple multimeter which will test for voltage or continuity. I have also further investigated the two pink wires which go down to the door lock, one comes from one of the water level switches and the other from the mains on switch. Both these wires show continuity and I have confirmed that with the machine switched on, there is mains passing thru the door switch. Also I have found that if the orange bulb in the door is wired independently to mains, it does indeed work, altho it does not work when machine switched on and door locked. Would you like to advise me of any further checks to carry out. Many thanks....Geoff...

Hi there and thanks for this. There are no flashing lights on the panel, in fact the only light on the panel of this model is the mains on light, which is on. To give more details....the washer stopped towards the end of a cycle, with water still in it, and tripped the house circuit breaker. Once re-set however it does not trip again, however washer completely inactive apart from door interlock being activated. Will do some more work on the door switch.......

either door lock faulty or motor brushes worn. any flashing lights on front panel??power off when checking inside.
