Had the battery and the alternater checked both are working fine, the alternator is charging the battery and the battery charges up, but will run down if left for a couple of hours.

make sure that there are no relays stuck in-check to see if any are hot to touch which could indicate that it is stuck closed!

if battery and alternator are definately ok get a multimeter put on AMPS setting. disconnect battery + lead and put meter in series between the 2. any substantial reading means you have a drain. if so remove each fuse in turn until reading drops this is the faulty circuit. if no change in reading disconnect alternator and check reading (had this problem before alternator drawing 3amps continually) could also be boot light on? hope this helps

Usually an alternator fault - I know you've had the charging system checked, but disconnect the alternator and see if the battery holds its charge.
