fdw60 door lock replacement?

how do you replace the FDW60 door lock ?
Dean Webb, October 2009
Alan - thanks mate, worked a treat. It's a doddle to partially remove the upper plastic control panel moulding without removing it completely. This give ample access to the switch which is only held by 2 screws. Everything goes back really easy.

£6 for the part at http://www.4hotpoint.co.uk/cgi-bin/product.pl?PID=964792&query=hotpoint fdw60p

SAFETY FIRST - Unplug from the Mains Socket at the wall. Using the front panel switch is NOT enough!

Unscrew the screws holding the upper plastic control panel moulding. You'll probably find the switch has lost a small bar and spring - make sure these are found or at best not lying around as the may be touching electrical contacts (See the websites picture to see how spring is located). To install, simply remove the spade connectors that have the wires on from the micro switch. (Note which spade came from which terminal so you can refit the same way later.) Unscrew the plastic locking catch assembly and screw on the new one, reconnect the spade connectors and refit the plastic moulding. Re-insert mains plug and you're up and running. Hope this helps
