Fan in Fiesta Mk3?

My fan in my fiesta mk3 is not working at all when the car becomes to hot. im not sure whether its a switch but the fan does work as ive tested it with the battery. what may be the problem.

not very helpful answers there! Heres what to do: 1. locate the temperature switch on the block (there will be a smallish multiplug with two wires coming out it) and disconnect it. 2. Set the ignition to 'on' (the last key position before the engine starts. 3. find a bit of thick wire/small pliers/tweezers or other small metal and bend it into an 'n' shape. 4. with the multiplug you disconnected in one hand, use your 'n' shape to short the terminals inside it BEWARE THE FAN!. 4. if the fan turns, you have a duff switch - replace it. 5. if the fan doesnt go, its a wiring or fan motor fault - if your fan works as you say, it is a wiring fault. let me know how you get on.

if its the radiator fan there is a thermostat usualy conected to the radiator you will find it is duff cheap to do
