mini motor will not start?

i posted a message earlyer about my boys mini motor it will not start i just checked the reed and it has totaly gone on one side would this cause the bike not to fire up

YES. REPLACE IT.

It certainly wouldn't help things - the reed valves stop back pressure fuel from being pushed back into the carb.....which is a normal 2 stroke thing.
