how to replace release bearing ?

my daughters 1998 ford fiestas clutch needs repairing,we know what the problem is, its the release bearing but the Haynes manual does not show any details on how to do it,does anyone have any instructions for it please.

i'm afraid the gearbox has to come out to replace the release bearing which usually only comes with clutch kit.
