Neff U1661 - Main Oven Hinge Problem?

The main oven door won't close fully (it falls back slightly open about 5mm). Neff have said the problem is with the hinges so I've ordered a replacement pair but they don't come with instructions. Does anyone know how to remove them as it doesn't look immediately obvious and I can't find a service manual online. The cost of a Neff engineer to do it is £80+ VAT. If anyone has got any ideas they would be gratefully received.

You will find that the inner component of both of the hinges (the bit inside the oven and a swine to get to) become 'stretched' open on these doors if excess weight is placed on them while they are open. I repaired mine by bending them back to their original positions and welding them in the correct shape. I was amazed that this had not been part of the original build spec, such a simple mod and no more door problems.... Also worth a mention I feel, I once put a fridge bulb in this oven accidentally and when it exploded (because it will) it destroyed the electronic control unit - A thr££ figure mistake!!

I have had the same problem and had 2 new sets of hinges replaced by NEFF.
The problem reoccured so I took the door apart, re seated the hinges and replaced and have not had a problem since.
It would appear that this is a poor design issue, which you would expect NEFF to resolve FOC and permanently rather than constantly sending out hinges.
I have checked the 2 pairs that were replaced and there is minimal wear on them so I do not think a new hinge is necessarily the answer.
Only took 30 mins or so to replace the hinges, once you figure out how simple it is to lift off the door, which is only held in by weight and a bit of friction and spring tension. Altogther a bit fiddly.
If you have not sorted this yet, reply back and I'll try to guide you on best way to approach the work if you do want to replace them

Re fitting of hinges. I guess you have to spring off the inner glass door and take out the screws top and bottom of the middle door that will then expose the hinges and the appropriate fastenings. Hope this helps.

We had the same problem and a Neff Engineer fitted new springs but it did not fix the problem. I found that the answer suggested on http://www.fixed4free.com/answers.php?id=57764 helped somewhat but I could only get 1 washer fitted.
