tailgate wont stay open on my renault megane scenic?

what could be the problem and what is the remedy

replace the struts that hold the tailgate open.

the tail gate will need SUPPORTING while the struts are changed. better with 2 people due to the weight

Replace the 2 gas struts that hold the tailgate up....simple job, buy them from a motor factor who could well fit them for you if you smile nicely!
