Noise from 1991 renault trafic camper van front wheel?

My 1991 petrol (front wheel drive) renault trafic camper van has developed an intermittent loud whining noise from the nearside front wheel. This comes on when overunning and disappears when the engine is pulling hard. Could it be the wheel bearing?
