Electrical problem with Vauxhall Astra?

My wife's Astra Avtive 1.6 has a strange electrical fault, when she turns on the headlights on, the dashboard goes out, when she turns the lights off, the dashboard returns to normal!!

I suspect the instrument light dimmer switch has been turned all the way off.

Mmm my car has developed the same problem, astra 1.6. Check your brake lights too. When my lights are off i have brake lights at the front too and when the lights are dipped my brake lights are on constantly
