Seems to tight, just pops off everytime.

Chain moves just the way it should now...........of course im having a problem starting it up. Cant get it to fire. Plus the gas tank leaks or the two problems could be one in the same.
What should I use to fix the gas tank?

Check that the sprocket on the bar nose turns freely, it may have been pinched , can be freed with the use of a screwdriver to prise the bar tip apart. Check the bar tensioner screw ( situated on the front of the saw by the bar or on the side were the bar attaches to the saw, the thread may be stripped.
Check the drive sprocket to the rear of the bar for missing or damaged teeth, Slacken off the bar tension and fit the chain around the sprocket ensuring the chain seats cleanly on the bar. Fit the side plate and tighten up finger tight with the chain slack, pull the chain forwards it should flow freely.
Hold the tip of the bar upwards and tighten the tension until the chain can be pulled up to show the bottom of the drive links level with the rim of the top of the bar and tighten the securing hex nuts.
Place the saw on a level work bench and using a GLOVED hand
grip the bottom edge of the chain and push the saw back sharply, the chain should turn on the bar and the saw should move back on the bench together. this indicates that the tension is correct, may I suggest that you obtain a manual for the saw?

To Angi, some possibilities:

1. Chain too tight? There should be some slack in the chain on the underside of the bar (approx. 1/8 inch), and you should be able to rotate the chain freely by hand (engine or motor OFF, no doubt). Locate the chain tension adjuster on your model chainsaw and adjust accordingly.
2. Chain not fully aligned with bar and drive sprocket? Make sure that all those tangs (teeth) on the inner side of the chain are inside the grooves around the bar and are engaging with the drive sprocket as well. If this is not the case, then the chain will come off every time when the clutch engages.
3. Hex nuts on drive sprocket/clutch cover loose or missing? Easy to see-- these are the two six-sided nuts on the outside of the chainsaw which hold the outer cover and bar to the engine. Loose or missing nuts will cause the bar to sway out of alignment; consequently, the chain to come off.

Just a few obvious possbilities-- maybe some other readers will come up with some more gift ideas.
